The crown chakra is the 7th chakra and one might even say it is the most sacred and important one we have. If we would translate it from Sanskrit, we would learn that it means “thousand-petaled”.
So, since it is located at the highest point of the head, think of it blooming and looking as a crown or as a lotus flower.
The way it is located is directly connected with our consciousness and divine awareness. From a philosophical point of view, it is very easy to acknowledge that this chakra not only offers enlightenment but also receives it. Therefore, it is a continuous link between the earthly world and the mystical one.
As you can imagine, just as all chakras, the crown chakra can be opened or closed. This means that it can balance your life or imbalance it. Usually, the blockage comes from living in a harsh environment or having difficulties.
We will discuss all these aspects in this article, but first of all, let’s make sure that you really understand what is the crown chakra.
The Crown Chakra – What it is and How it Work
This chakra is called Sahasrara and is, as mentioned earlier, responsible for the spiritual part. With its help, you can connect to the Divinity and create awareness.
It is by your side from the moment you are born until you become an adult. At that point, it can get faded away in the quotidian. But, if you know the right way to activate it, you can regain the mystic part. This can be done with the help of meditation and yoga.
The color representing this chakra is either white or violet. This is why among the stones that activate it are the clear quartz, the blue lace agate, the selenite, or the amethyst.
Wearing one of these crystals on you will make your chakra vibe and will influence it is a great way. Even though the chakra is located at the top of your head, it doesn’t mean that you should only wear earrings that have these stones. Wearing bracelets will be just as helpful.
How can you Recognize a Blocked Crown Chakra?
The first thing you should understand is that there are actually not one but two types of crown chakra imbalances. You can have either a deficiency or too much chakra activity. This can make you feel either dull or aggressive.
So, to explain how this works let’s just say that when you have a crown chakra deficiency you will feel as you simply don’t have enough energy as if you are blocked. But when you have an excess, then you will be feeling agitated and reactive, all due to the excessive amount of energy.
Is there a way to say which option is worse? No. Because neither of the situations is to be desired. This is why the best situation you want is to have a balanced chakra.
But how can you be sure you keep your chakra balanced? You will need to learn how to heal it and I will teach multiple ways in which you can do just that.
Crown Chakra Healing Practices
You might not feel right from the start that your chakra needs healing, but once balanced, you will notice a desire for belonging. So let’s see how you can heal your chakra and get in touch with your inner self.
Even though many people consider meditation to be useless and deprecated, let me tell you right from the start it is not. Furthermore, it works.
And since the crown chakra is directly connected to the spiritual part, meditation is a very powerful way to heal your chakra.
You can use multiple techniques such as breathing slowly or matras. Also, you can use meditation apps or videos. They will come handy.
The crown chakra will open itself up when you work your mind and expand your limits. This can be very easily done by the simple act of watching online videos, reading books, or going to seminars.
Soon, you will find out that education is a constant aspect of life and can never be too much. This will lead to a very ‘happy’ crown chakra and therefore to an open mind regarding yourself and the people surrounding you.
3. Plant Medication
Plants have been used for medical purposes for as long as we can think of. However, there are cases in which plants are used to heal not only the body but also the mind and create a connection with the Divinity.
Ever hear about shamans? That is exactly what they do. Known also as plant teachers, the shamans use plant medication to open the crown chakra and let your energy free.
When you hear about praying you should not only think about it in a religious way. You can practice praying to whoever you believe in. It doesn’t matter if it is a God or a Goddess, your ancestors, or the Universe, praying will open your crown chakra.
Praying will create a bridge between you and your spirituality which is of course connected with the crown chakra.
5. Stones and Crystals
I mentioned this earlier, but I want to make sure that you understand that crystals open your chakras. This is true about all chakras and not only for the crown one. However, each chakra is connected to a list of crystals.
The crown chakra is very responsive when in contact with quartz, charoite, selenite, howlite, fluorite, amethyst, or sugilite.
6. Start Wearing Purple
That may be a song, but it also applies here. By wearing violet not only on your crystals but also on your clothes, you will open your crown chakra and help it get balanced.
7. Use Herbs
We’ve talked about plant medication, but that’s not all. You can use a lot of herbs in your everyday life, for cooking or for cosmetic purposes.
Of course, one of the most effective ways to use them is by drinking them as tea. So what are the herbs that you should consider for opening your crown chakra?
The ones that are known to be the most effective are basil, lavender, lotus, and gotu kola.
Work out as much as possible. This will help you get your body in touch with your mind. A healthy crown chakra is a sign of a healthy spirit and physics. Practices that are known to help are yoga falun gong or reiki. However, there are other techniques that can help you. You can ask professional help and start acupuncture or acupressure sessions.
As you can see there are many different ways you can heal your crown chakra. Probably you don’t know where to start, but my suggestion is to listen to your body.
